I believe that mental health is not a destination but a process in learning how to find comfort within the uncomfortable, to be at peace with what is, and to fall in to appreciation for the journey. “We can choose happiness, but what if we we chose the full spectrum of our experience instead? Maybe instead of believing things are linear and the road only goes upward and toward happiness, we allow ourselves what we choose.” -Brianna Weist

I received my Master’s in Social Work from Stony Brook University then went on to get my license to become a Licensed Master Social Worker. I have clinical experience working in various settings such as private practice and with both nature-based and animal-assisted therapies. My expertise areas include working with individuals struggling with difficulties related to anxiety, depression, trauma, identity and self-esteem, LGBTQIA+, relationship or family conflict, anger management, and career or life-transitions.

My goal as a therapist is to individually treat each client through a whole-person approach providing a nonjudgmental environment for self-exploration. I understand fully that when a person decides they are ready to seek counseling, they may be eager to see improvement. I utilize a combination of both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to assist people with understanding how their thoughts affect their reality as well as helping people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions learn more effective ways to cope. I believe that gaining a better understanding of your thoughts and emotions can result in the development of a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities, helping to face one’s fears instead of avoiding them and learning to calm one’s mind to find more peace and acceptance.

I’m currently working toward receiving a Reiki Healing Practitioner Certification and have plans to become certified in Energy Psychotherapy. For individuals who are either in tune to or curious about their spirituality, I can also provide a safe space for exploring your higher purpose and deepening your awareness of self. Mindfulness practices and spirituality can provide people with the necessary tools to better cope with the effects of everyday stress and can allow for one to find comfort through difficult times or heal past traumas. The benefits can also include gaining a deepened relationship to oneself and others, a greater sense of peace and calmness within your mind, body, and soul connection, and helping you to live a more meaningful life.

Please feel welcome to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have to ensure you have the best fit for the treatment you are seeking. I look forward to connecting with you and together cultivating a plan that will best support you in achieving your goals.
